The platform's rating system helps but does not fully solve the curation problem. The model selection layer is a real feature. SpicyChat lets character creators assign different underlying AI models to their characters - faster conversational models for light casual interaction, more capable contextual models for deep narrative roleplay. As a user you can also switch models mid-conversation. More capable models are gated behind the $19.99 per month plan, which is meaningful for long narrative sessions where context window size starts to matter. Fair warning: NSFW content is off by default and requires account creation plus a settings change to unlock. New users who sign up expecting explicit content and cannot find it usually have not completed this step. The content itself is genuinely uncensored once enabled. The free tier with daily message limits is enough for regular casual use across multiple characters. Paid plans at $9.99 and $19.99 per month increase limits and unlock better models. Real talk: if you want AI companion depth, look elsewhere. If you want variety and discovery across an enormous catalogue of roleplay personas, SpicyChat is hard to beat.
