The design starts from the premise that couples and solo non-monogamous people have needs that Tinder and Bumble handle badly. On #open, you can create a couple profile with two linked accounts, specify what you're looking for together (another couple, a third for a threesome, a play partner for one person, group connections), and browse accordingly. Solo users can specify that they're open to partnered people. The interaction model is genuinely different from standard apps because the unit of matching can be two people, not just one. Here's the thing: #open is young and the user base reflects it. Our testing in a major US city returned a meaningful number of profiles, but the active user count was noticeably lower than on mainstream apps. Couples profiles were well represented. Single people looking specifically for polyamorous connections had fewer options. The quality of the profiles we saw was high - people were specific about what they were looking for - but you will wait longer between viable matches here than on Tinder. Pricing runs $20/month for a couple account (covering both linked profiles), which is reasonable given the niche. Solo user accounts are $12/month. Free browsing is available but messaging requires a subscription. Real talk: #open is the best purpose-built tool for ethical non-monogamy dating right now. The competition is using Feeld (which skews younger and more experimental) or OkCupid (which has ENM options but buries them in a general dating context). If ENM is a central part of your life and you want an app that treats it as the default rather than an edge case, this is the right place to be.
