We reviewed Whisper.sh in March 2026 for HTTPS security, account anonymity, privacy documentation, and data practices specific to the platform's semi-anonymous model. TLS is correctly configured. Account creation uses a username with no real name or email required for basic use - that's genuine anonymity at the signup layer. The privacy policy, however, reveals a more complex picture: Whisper collects precise GPS-level location data by default, and a Washington Post investigation in 2019 found that Whisper was sharing this location data with the US Department of Defense.
