NovelCrow scores 6/10 on our safety assessment as of April 2026 - slightly above average for free comics platforms, thanks primarily to its lighter advertising footprint. HTTPS encryption is properly configured across the site, and the comic reader loaded content without triggering any malware or phishing warnings in our security scans.

The advertising situation is the most relevant safety factor, and it's genuinely better than the category average. We logged 1-2 popup redirect attempts per browsing session, significantly fewer than the 4-5 popups typical of competing free comics sites. More importantly, the comic reader itself is completely ad-free - no overlays, no interstitials between pages, no banner interruptions during reading. Display ads appear on listing pages, category pages, and search results but not within the reading interface. uBlock Origin eliminated all remaining ads during our testing.
