The free tier removes immediate billing risk, but social platforms in this category have distinct privacy concerns that tube sites don't: real-time communication, profile data, and message history create a larger data footprint than just watching a video. Casual visitors should be aware of what they're sharing even on the free tier.

We reviewed lemonchat.app in March 2026. HTTPS is present and the app domain has a valid certificate. The platform is built as a progressive web app, which means it can request additional browser permissions - during our test, it didn't immediately push for microphone or camera access on page load, which is a positive sign. Age verification at signup requires a birthdate entry - slightly better than a click-through, though still not identity-verified. The privacy policy is more detailed than typical for this category: it discloses what data the app collects (account info, messages, usage data), mentions cloud storage via third-party infrastructure, and acknowledges that message content may be reviewed for moderation. What we didn't find was a clear data deletion mechanism for account holders - the policy mentions account deletion is possible but doesn't specify what happens to message history afterward. Ad behavior was clean during our test; LemonChat appears to monetize through in-app tokens rather than display advertising.

LemonChat's free tier has some limitations but doesn't require a credit card to access. The token-based premium features (sending virtual gifts, unlocking certain content) do involve real-money purchases if you choose to engage them. We tested whether the token purchase flow was transparent: pricing was visible upfront and the purchase screen didn't show any hidden auto-renewal. That said, digital token purchases on social platforms are typically non-refundable - standard practice, but worth knowing going in. We couldn't verify whether unused tokens expire.
